Min Fleshlight

All the facts / Myths

The testosterone story is one week long and then it ends

There is a real study behind it, and it does not say what it is quoted as saying.

A small Chinese study measured serum testosterone in men abstaining from ejaculation and found a brief rise peaking around the seventh day, after which levels returned to where they started. That single graph is the source of an entire internet genre about what abstinence does for a man.

What the study does not show is any lasting change, any effect on muscle, mood, confidence or drive, or any harm from ejaculating. A short hormonal blip in a small sample is a normal physiological observation. It became a lifestyle because the graph had a peak in it, and peaks are easy to sell.

What to do with it

There is nothing to do with this one except stop counting days. If a week off feels good, that is a fine reason to take one; a hormone graph is not.

Real testosterone problems have symptoms, including persistent fatigue, low desire, and loss of muscle, and they are diagnosed with a morning blood test. That is a doctor's appointment, not an abstinence schedule.
