The case is a torch because of the shelf, not the hand
It is the one design decision that explains the whole product.
The hard outer case does three jobs. It gives the soft insert a shape to hold, it carries the screw cap that controls the suction, and it makes the object unreadable at a glance to somebody else walking into the room. The third job is the one that built the company.
Every design decision since has gone the same way. The compact line looks like a drinks flask, the pocket model looks like nothing at all, and the packaging is plain. A product used in private and stored in a shared flat is being designed for two different moments, and the second is the harder brief.
What to do with it
Take it apart every time. The sleeve comes out, gets rinsed and dried on its own, and the case goes back in the drawer empty. A sleeve dried inside its case is the single most common way to ruin one.
For travel, the pocket models pack flat and look like nothing. A full-size case in hand luggage is legal and awkward; the smaller ones are neither.
